ITI Spiritual Emergency

Unit Coordinators: Dr. Elena Toscan and Dr. Loretta Illuminati

Emergency in short here stands for Spiritual Emergency or Spiritual Crisis.

The Transpersonal Psychology model highlights the importance of the spiritual dimension, conceived as a fundamental human experience, which therefore has a strong impact on the person at a psychological level.

This experience, if lived in a positive and evolutionary way, can be a source of wellbeing for the subject, but also could come with experiences of difficulty and discomfort, with psycho-emotional repercussions in the various spheres of one's life (eg emotional, relational , family, work, etc.).

In the transpersonal context, the spiritual crisis is therefore welcomed and valued as a psychologically significant moment of transition, a delicate moment, full of complexity but also of great potential for maturation, realization and personal expression, if it is experienced in the right way, which also affects the wider community.

The ITI Unit on Spiritual Crises, in accordance with the transpersonal vision highlighted, aims to support and share this view of the spiritual crisis, emphasizing and promoting an integral and integrated model of development of the spiritual sphere, a development which from a psychological point of view also has states and stages and which must be integrated harmoniously with the various other areas of experience and life.

With this in mind, the project aims to promote a clinical and social culture that is able to recognize and welcome the value and strength of this experience, promoting a broader reflection on the various implications linked to this type of crisis and to the concept of ' spirituality ', which also involve intercultural aspects.

The Unit 'activities include, organization of conferences, courses, study and research projects, publication of articles and text.
